How we vet

What “Vetted” means on Struvia.

Every subcontractor on Struvia carries one of three tiers, or none. Each tier is a fixed list of checks, shown below exactly as Struvia applies them. On a sub's profile you can see which checks it passed and where the evidence came from.

Today Struvia shows each sub’s tier, but network suggestions are not yet limited to Vetted subs. Check the tier on each sub before you invite.

The three tiers

Each tier adds checks to the one before it.

  1. 01

    Checked

A real business you can reach, with nothing on record that rules it out.

    • Real businessBusiness name, trade, and location on file.Source: Sub profile · State license rosters and public business listings
    • ReachableA working email address (not bounced or marked as spam) or a phone number.Source: Email delivery results from bids Struvia sends · Sub profile
    • Not excludedNot on the SAM.gov federal exclusions list, and no disciplinary action on record with the state license board.Source: SAM.gov exclusions · State license boards
  2. 02

    Vetted

Checked, plus an active license where the state requires one, plus current insurance.

    Everything in Checked, plus

    • Active licenseAn active license confirmed with the state license board. If the state does not license the trade at all (for example, painting in Texas), no license is needed, but insurance still is.Source: State license boards · State license rosters
    • Current insuranceA certificate of insurance Struvia has verified and that hasn't expired, or workers' comp coverage found on the state's record.Source: Certificate of insurance, reviewed by Struvia · State workers' comp coverage lookups
  3. 03

    Proven

Vetted, plus a track record of real work.

    Everything in Vetted, plus

    • Track recordAny one of: at least 3 building permits in the sub's trade in the last 24 months; a review of 4 stars or better from a GC on a real job; or a job awarded through Struvia with no negative review.Source: Building permit records · GC reviews tied to an awarded job · Awards on Struvia

A sub that fails any Checked requirement, including a federal exclusion or board discipline, is shown as Not vetted. An inactive or revoked license, or an expired certificate of insurance, keeps a sub below Vetted.

Limits

What the checks can't tell you.

  • License checks run only where the state license board can be checked automatically. Elsewhere a sub stays below Vetted until a license is confirmed another way.
  • No record is not proof. A sub with no exclusion, discipline, or permit found may simply not have been matched yet.
  • Insurance is checked when the sub sends a certificate or when coverage appears on a state record. We do not confirm limits or additional-insured status with the carrier.
  • Subs you add from your own contacts are never filtered out. You see their tier, and the call is yours.
  • A tier is a starting point, not a recommendation for a specific job. Check scope, capacity, and references before you award.
